CLEVELAND – Congress’ inability to pass funding legislation could soon cause a major disappointment for runners.

The shutdown has caused the closure of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and if it’s not reopened by October 8th, the Towpath Marathon will be cancelled.

That’s the deadline CNVP staff gave before they left for furlough.

The Towpath Marathon has been going strong for 22 years, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park said it is working to explore its options. It wants to thank runners for their patience.
