SHAKER HEIGHTS -- A dangerous stunt went horribly wrong for a local man who police say was trying to car surf.

It happened Wednesday near the intersection of Lee and Chagrin Roads.

Police said the man fell off the car he was on top of and was then run over by the driver. The driver lost control of the car and crashed into a nearby brick wall.

Both men had to be taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

"Thank God he didn't get killed or no one died in the crash," said Classie Love.

Love uses the bus stop just feet from where the accident happened. She said they really could have caused a lot of damage.

"You've got to be crazy to ride on top of a car on a busy street or any other time. That's crazy," she said.

Other bus riders felt the same way.

"It was a complete disaster that happened to someone, because they're not thinking about their safety or the safety of others," said Rashed Whatley.

The driver was arrested for an OVI while the passenger was cited for riding outside of a motor vehicle.

Police are not giving out either of their names at this time.
