CLEVELAND —  A fire at a substation shut down service on the RTA Red Line Wednesday afternoon.

According to RTA officials, a CEI power line fell and hit a wire over the Red Line tracks near the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere in East Cleveland around 2:45 p.m.

The current carried into the rail station’s electrical room, which forced RTA to shut down Red Line service between the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere and Tower City in downtown Cleveland.

No one was injured.

Customers are encouraged to ride the HealthLine on Euclid Avenue. Red Line service continues between Tower City and Hopkins Airport.

RTA says it is assessing the damage and will determine if shuttle bus service will be needed Thursday.
