WADSWORTH, Ohio — Wadsworth police say reports of an attempted abduction made earlier this week can’t be substantiated.

A female student told police that on Monday a man tried to lure her into his jeep after school in the downtown square area. She said she was able to run away.

The school district also issued an alert call about what happened.

But according to a release from Wadsworth police issued Friday, a complete and thorough investigation of the reports was conducted and “we’ve been unable to substantiate the initial reporting circumstances.”

The release thanked Wadsworth City Schools and parents for their efforts in safeguarding youth following the reported incident, and still remind people to be aware of their surroundings.
