Neighbors: Mother At Work During Deadly Fire

tiffin fire 1TIFFIN, Ohio — Fire officials in Seneca County are investigating an early morning blaze that claimed the life of a man and five children.

Tiffin Police Chief Fredrick W. Stevens tells FOX 8 News that a call was received at 7:46 a.m. on Sunday alerting them about flames coming from the Highland Trailer Park on South Sandusky Street.

Firefighters responded minutes later to find the trailer fully engulfed.  Paramedics along with crews from Bascom Fire Department were able to rescue the individuals from the home.

tiffin fire 2They were transported to Tiffin Mercy Hospital where they died from their injuries.

The victims have been identified as Timothy Fresch, 25, Tiara Angel, 6, Stormie Huey, 5, Trinity Huey, 4, Sunshine Huey, 3, and Domonic Fresch, 2.

Neighbors tell FOX 8 News they heard the smoke detectors going off.

Although firefighters arrived quickly, the blaze spread out of control fast.

Neighbors say the children’s mother was at work at the time.

Officials from the State Fire Marshal’s office in Columbus have been notified and will be on scene to start the process of trying to determine a cause of the fire.

The manager of the complex is asking the community of the trailer park to raise money for the victims’ funeral expenses.
