MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH — Several firefighters put their cooking skills to the test for a good cause Saturday.
Over a dozen departments participated in the 5th annual “The Famous Rivals Firefighter Chili Cook-Off” to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Middleburg Heights firefighters said they hoped to raise $10,000 Saturday, which would grant one wish. They have already granted seven wishes.
“It feels really good. The biggest thing is to see everyone come together,” said Middleburg Heights firefighter Matt Morris. “To see 15 fire departments, we’ve got 15 cities, everyone’s coming together. We get to meet the kids, the kids are the judges, they’re part of this. To see the smiles on their faces — to see where all your hard work is going, it makes you feel really good to see those smiles on their faces.”
Live music was provided by Renegade and the Cleveland Firefighters Memorial Pipes and Drums.
