Two Corrections Officers on Paid Leave After Castro Death

ORIENT, Ohio —Two corrections officers, who were assigned to watch Ariel Castro, were placed on paid administrative leave, Tuesday afternoon, according to JoEllen Smith, spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Castro was found hanging inside his prison cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, last Tuesday night; he was declared dead a short time later.

He was serving a life sentence plus 1,000 years for abducting, raping, and holding hostage Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus.
