The convicted rapist and kidnapper was found hanged in his single-bunk cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio Tuesday.
Castro, 53, admitted to abducting three girls from a Cleveland west side neighborhood.
He held them captive in his Seymour Avenue home for about a decade, during which time her repeatedly raped and tortured them.

On Aug. 1, Castro was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 1,000 years.
He used a standard-issued sheet to take his own life.
The coroner’s office would not confirm which family member will take possession of Castro’s body.
