COLUMBUS, Oh— The Urban Meyer Era is set to start year two Saturday afternoon as Ohio State opens up their 2013-2014 college football campaign by hosting Buffalo.  In the inaugural year under Meyer, the Buckeyes ran the table, capping off their 12-0 record by beating Michigan 26-21, thanksgiving weekend in Columbus.

Junior quarterback Braxton Miller returns under center for the second-ranked Buckeyes.  He did just about everything last season except drive the team bus.  In Meyer’s wide-open, fast-tempo, spread offense, Miller put up eye-popping numbers, worthy of this season legitimate Heisman Trophy front-runner talk.  He amassed about 3300 yards of total offense from the line and scrimmage, while accounting for 28 touchdowns.

Top rusher from a year ago Carlos Hyde and valuable back up Rod Smith, will not be available for Miller to hand off too.  The pair will not be in uniform, after off-the-field team violation suspensions.

On the other side of the ball, there are more holes to fill.  Ohio State will be without All-American defensive back Bradley Roby.  Meyer suspended the junior cornerback for the game after a legal problem this summer near his hometown.  The Scarlet & Grey will try to replace eight defensive starters from a year ago.

Buffalo is coming off a 4-8 mark from a year ago.  The Bulls finished in the middle of the pack in the MAC, going 2-3.  Buffalo will be led by senior quarterback Alex Zordich.  He threw for 1250 yards and 9 touchdowns last season.

Kickoff is set for Saturday at noon from Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

We will have complete highlights tonight on Fox 8 News at 6pm & 10pm.
