PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities are still searching for a suspect who took off when troopers tried to pull him over for a speed violation, just after 3 a.m. on the Ohio Turnpike.

Authorities said they pursued the suspect for about four miles.

The suspect got off at SR 44 in Shalersville Township. While he was trying to turn left, he lost control and went off the road into a field.

He ran away.

Authorities said the car he was in was stolen from a car dealer in Michigan.

They began searching neighborhoods in the area for the suspect and weren’t sure if he was armed.

Officials at nearby Crestwood High School were taking extra security precautions for the safety of the students.
