MOGADORE, Ohio — Gunshots woke up a neighborhood in Summit County as sheriff’s deputies fired near a man with a handgun.

Around 7:30 a.m. Monday, the officials arrived at a home on Orchard Street in Mogadore, hoping to interview a person who lived at the home.

According to a lieutenant on scene, a man came out of the house with a handgun.

The deputies ducked for cover and fired near the suspect.  He reportedly dropped his handgun and was taken into custody.

Neighbors couldn’t believe they heard the shots on their street and said things like that don’t usually happen around there.

“It was real loud and it was quick and I knew it was a gun and I heard the people screaming up there,” said Erik Whitt, who leaves nearby.

No one was injured in the shooting and the man was taken into custody without further incident.
