It is that time of year again! Fair season is upon us, and children all over are presenting a year's worth of hard work and dedication in their 4-H projects.

4-H allows children the opportunity to learn by doing, make friends, be involved, and gain leadership skills in various areas of interest from working with animals to sewing and cake decorating.

Six girls from Lake County make up the 4-H club "Muddy Boots", which focuses on horses.  The club was formed two years ago.

Since that time, the girls have been able to learn how to ride horses, go on carriage rides, and visit vets to watch operations on horses.

The girls will be showing and competing at the Lake County Fair in a number of categories, including Western pleasure and English jumping.

They will be judged on their barn project books in which they log their activities, their tack, an interview, and their performance.

They gave Fox 8's Kristi Capel a small taste of what one can expect to see at the fair.  Watch the video above to see more.
