NORTH ROYALTON, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash on the Ohio Turnpike that happened Thursday afternoon.

Officials say a 2008 Ford Expedition was traveling west on I-80 between I-71 and I-77 when the driver lost control on the wet pavement.

The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

A 15-year-old female was ejected from the third row of the vehicle into the center of the road.  She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday identified her as Leah Robinson of Bowie, Md.

All seven passengers were taken to Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights.

The other passengers’ injuries are non-life threatening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The road was closed for about 45 minutes.

The crash is still under investigation. Charges are pending.
