CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS, Ohio– Drivers have been advised to avoid the area of I-77 North before Grant Avenue after a semi crash earlier this morning.

Drivers can use the alternate route of 176 to 480.

One lane remains closed in the area.

Crews were still working to remove the semi from a wooded area next to the highway.

It required the removal of some trees.

According to the Cuyahoga Heights Police Department, around 5 a.m., the out-of-state driver lost control for unknown reasons, climbed an embankment and struck a tree just south of Grant Avenue.

He or she was trapped, had to be extricated, and was then life-flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

The accident caused significant delays along I-77 and alternate routes, such as the Jennings Freeway.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.

The victim’s name and other details on the crash were not immediately released.
