CLEVELAND– The Cleveland Indians suffered perhaps their most disappointing loss of the season at Progressive Field on Monday evening.

The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Detroit Tigers; the team that is leading the American League Central Division.

The Indians are in second place in the division and are fighting for a spot in the playoffs.

Tribe starter Corey Kluber was spectacular in holding the Tigers scoreless into the eighth inning.

But Indians closer Chris Perez could not hold the lead in the ninth inning. He gave up a three run home run to the Tigers’ Alex Avila and the Tigers went on to win 4-2.

The Indians now trail the Tigers by four games.

Game two of the four game series is Tuesday night at Progressive Field.
