CLEVELAND — Firefighters responded to a fire at the future headquarters of Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream.

The fire broke out at the old Moda building on W. 25th Street near Bridge Avenue just after 2 a.m.

Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream, which is currently headquartered in Rocky River, was renovating the building to move their headquarters to Ohio City.

In a post on Mitchell’s Facebook page, the company wrote: “Thank you for your warm wishes and support. There was a small fire in our Ohio City Kitchen & Shop under construction but nobody was hurt. The damage is minor and should not affect our plans to open later this year.”

The Cleveland Fire Department said the fire was quickly contained and most damaged appeared to be to the second floor.

Fox 8 was unable to reach anyone at Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream for a comment.
