Fire Prompts Apartment Evacuation

CLEVELAND — A fire in a Shaker Square apartment building prompted the evacuation of about 150 people and hurt one person.

It sparked in the housing in the 14300 block of Shaker Boulevard, on the corner of Van Aken, before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Cleveland Division of Fire, the fire was contained to one third-floor apartment but caused extensive damage.

One man suffered burns to his hand.

Residents were permitted back into their homes shortly after the fire was extinguished.

At the time of this report, the fire remained under investigation.
