VIDEO: At Least 28 Injured In Fireworks Malfunction

SIMI VALLEY, California — At least 28 people were injured after a fireworks display malfunctioned in Simi Valley, California, KTLA reported.

Twenty of the victims were taken to hospitals. Eight were treated at the scene.

Capt. Mike Lindbery of the Ventura County Fire Department said four of the victims were moderately or seriously injured.

KTLA spoke to witness Anissa Wynn. “The fireworks were so close, you could see them on the ground,” she said. “It never happens this way. People were screaming.”

Dozens of people posted video of the malfunction on YouTube.
