Mansfield Inmate Captured

MANSFIELD, OH — Authorities confirmed a prison inmate who escaped from the Mansfield Correctional Institution Wednesday evening has been captured.

According to Pete Elliott with the U.S. Marshal’s Office, James Myers was recognized at a convenience store in Ashland.

Elliott said Myers waited in the store for authorities to arrive. He was apprehended around 6:45 p.m. by the Ohio State Highway Patrol without incident.

He has been returned to the Mansfield Correctional Institution, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
