CLEVELAND-- Ominous clouds couldn't keep thousands and thousands of people from the city of Cleveland's annual 4th of July festivities.
"We used to go to Shaker but they canceled it. So we decided to come down here for something new," said Jackson Merriman, of Shaker Heights.
People showed up early and set up shop on the grassy lawn around the East Bank of the Flats.
"We got here about two in the afternoon. We look forward to the bursts, the fireworks and all the excitement," said Ralph Peshek, of Cleveland.
People also took part in the RTA's ninth annual Family Fun Fest at Settlers Landing, enjoying free rides, music and fun.
But they were mostly there for the city's fireworks display presented by FirstEnergy.
A celebration of independence, freedom and the city of Cleveland.
