Thousands Without Power; Road Closed

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Some 12,400 customers lost power across several communities Thursday.

According to FirstEnergy, a truck from Boyas Excavating took down 10 transmission wires along Rockside Road around 10 a.m.

The Garfield Heights Police Department confirmed the road was closed from Turney down to the Valley View line.

The areas impacted by the power outage included Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Independence, Bedford and Walton Hills.

An official at the scene said it would take several hours for power to be restored.
