LORAIN, Ohio ---  A Lorain man is behind bars, awaiting a court date, accused of killing a dog.

On Saturday night, Lorain Police arrested 30-year-old Emanuel Eisel for brutally stabbing a border collie at a relative's home along the 1200 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Lorain.

According to the Lorain Police Department report, Eisel is the stepson of the home owner, Anthony Blue.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., the 40 lb black and white collie growled at him while the dog was chained outside of the home.  Eisel, who has a long criminal history, allegedly picked the dog up by its tail off the ground.

The report states that the dog, protecting itself, then bit Eisel.  At this point, Eisel pulled out a 6-inch black pocket knife and proceeded to stab the dog multiple times.

The dog was transported to the Lorain Emergency Animal Clinic where it had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.

Eisel was apprehended after a short foot chase.

He faces charges of cruelty to animals, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and two counts of intimidation.

A court date has not been set.
