DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH — The body discovered in a wooded area near Berlin Lake Saturday has been positively identified as Jeffrey Hathaway, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The discovery was made around 8:45 a.m.

Hathaway, 45, was reported missing to the Norton Police Department on May 15.

On May 17, his car was located in a parking lot off Fewtown Road. A deputy with the Portage County Sheriff’s Department noticed the car after it had been parked in the same place for two days.

A large search group spent several days searching the heavily wooded area. On May 19, authorities told Fox 8 News they had “exhausted all avenues” in their efforts and suspended the search until they received more information.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office said autopsy results are still pending.
