Man Injured During Officer-Involved Shooting

CLEVELAND – Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened early this morning in the Warehouse District, near West 6th Street and St.Clair.

It happened around 2:30 Sunday morning. Police say a 5-year veteran of the police department confronted a 28-year-old man when he attempted to drive down a closed street.

During a confrontation with the 28-year-old, the officer’s service weapon discharged striking the man in the chest.  The man was taken to a local hospital were he was treated and released.  The officer did not report any injuries.

The Police Department’s  Use of Deadly Force Investigation Team is investigating.  The officer has been placed on a paid administration leave.
