Police: Man Dies After Assaulting Officers

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio — A man died after assaulting two officers at the Bedford Heights Correctional Facility Friday, according to authorities.

Bedford Heights police said the correctional facility put out a request for help around 6:45 p.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, officers found a man on top of two Bedford Heights Corrections Officers, choking them.

The man was later identified as Omar Arrington-Bey.

Police officers were able to free the corrections officers from Arrington-Bey’s grasp, handcuff him and place him in a restraint chair.

According to police, Arrington-Bey then became unresponsive. Police contacted Bedford Heights Fire and Bedford Heights EMS, who performed emergency aid. The man was transferred to the hospital where he later died.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office was contacted and the incident is under investigation.
