CLEVELAND, Ohio — Firefighters responded to a house fire on the city’s west side Sunday morning.

The fire was reported just before 10:15 a.m. at a home in the West 50th Street and Field Avenue area.

A family lives in the house, according to fire officials on scene, but no one was home at the time of the fire.

According to preliminary reports, the fire appeared to have started on the first floor. When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the room.

Fire officials said the cause of the blaze appears to be electrical in nature, but an exact cause hasn’t yet been determined.
