CLEVELAND — Man’s best friend took a ride on the RTA rapid line Thursday.

A group of volunteers from “Canine Companions for Independence” were on the rapid with puppies, full grown dogs and service dogs.

The volunteers were teaching the dogs how to ride the train.

Riding on trains and buses, as well as interacting in other environments, is part of the canine training that needs to be completed by volunteer puppy raisers, according to organizers. It helps socialize the pups and hopefully makes them eligible to be placed as an assistance dog in the future.

A group of 11 adults and 10 dogs took part in the training.
