BAY VILLAGE, Ohio-- A man who crashed his car into a family’s home in the middle of the day had a blood alcohol level five times the legal limit, Bay Village police said.

"The sound of the crash was very strange. It sounded like breaking glass and falling bricks, for some reason," neighbor Dale Kleve said.

Lt. Mark Spaetzel said the suspect’s blood alcohol level was .40.

The police report names the driver as Florin Constantinescu, 43, of Bay Village.

Constantinescu pleaded not guilty to several charges, including OVI, online court records show.

It happened a week ago Tuesday about 11:45 a.m.

Neighbors said the car came around the corner, didn't make the turn and went straight into the house.

Neighbors said the family who lives in the home uses the front room as a living room, but luckily they were in another part of the house.

"No, thank God they were in the kitchen," neighbor Maria Toldy said.

The couple in the home was not hurt.

Police said there were two people in the car.

"They were able to get out of the car, I guess on their own, and take them to the hospital; but they didn't get hurt," Toldy said.
