Southwest Among World’s Safest Airlines
It’s officially vacation season. How safe are you when you board a plane?
Travelers can find plenty of reasons to complain about airlines with extra fees and longer lines at the airport. But safety has improved in recent years, according to The Huffington Post.
According to the National Safety Transportation Board, U.S. carriers with scheduled services have only experienced one fatal crash worldwide since 2006.
So what are the safest airlines?
Travel + Leisure Magazine rated Germany’s longtime airline, Lufthansa, as the safest airline in the world. British Airways was rated number two.
Tied for third place was Australian carrier Qantas along with Southwest Airlines.
Rounding out the top ten are United/Continental Airlines, Delta and US Airways.
