CLEVELAND, Ohio — After a late-inning collapse Saturday night, the Indians knew they’d have to beat Stephen Strasburg if they were going to steal the series from the Nationals.

Corey Kluber was up to the challenge.

The young right hander kept his composure and battled out of a couple of jams, striking out eight Nats in his eight shut-out innings.

Strasburg looked sharp in his return from the disabled list. But the Tribe got him in the fourth, when Carlos Santana’s single scored Jason Kipnis with the first run of the game.

That was all the help Kluber needed. Vinnie Pestano came on to close it out for his first save of the season.

The Indians blanked the Nationals, 2-0 and took the series.

They start a three-game series with the Royals Monday night.
