NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (CNN/WDRB) -- Hundreds of police officers, first responders, family and friends gathered in a Kentucky cemetery last week to say goodbye to a fallen officer.

Jason Ellis was ambushed and killed as he headed home from work, becoming the first Bardstown officer to ever lose his life in the line of duty.

His K9 partner honored him at the service, by placing his paw on his casket.
