CLEVELAND – Starting Monday, it will be 58-year-old Richard Dameron‘s turn to tell the world he was being an idiot.

Dameron, who called 911 in February threatening to kill a retired officer, was sentenced by Cleveland Municipal Judge Pinkey Carr to 90 days in jail and to holding a sign that reads:

“I apologize to Officer Simone, his family, all law enforcement officers and Ms. Adkins for threatening to kill them.  I was being an idiot and it will never happen again.”

Ms. Adkins is Dameron’s son’s girlfriend, whom he also threatened.

Dameron did not pick up the sign Thursday, as ordered, so Judge Carr’s bailiff, David Morrow, delivered it to him Friday night.

Dameron will hold the sign this week.  He is to stand outside the Second District Police Department building from 7 to 10 a.m.

Last fall, Judge Carr made Shena Hardin wear an ‘idiot’ sign when she drove around a school bus full of kids.
