CLEVELAND, Ohio — It was a big night for Cleveland broadcasters Saturday as winners of the regional Emmy Awards were announced at an evening gala.

Fox 8’s winners included:

— Reporter Annette Lawless: Human Interest Story
— Photojournalist Ali Ghanbari: Photography
— Editor Chuck Rigdon: Fox 8 “Neighborhood” show, Editing
— Photographer Herb Thomas: Fox 8 “Neighborhood” show

A highlight of the evening was the induction of Neil Zurcher by Fox 8’s Kevin Salyer into the Gold Circle for 50 years of service to broadcasting.

Neil is most famous for his “One Tank Trips,” iconic reporting that showed us the hidden gems to visit all around the region.

Neil’s career is much more than that. In the 1960s, he interviewed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A picture taken of that interview hangs on the wall at Fox 8.
