Oscar Winner Treated for Heroin Abuse
Philip Seymour Hoffman was recently treated for drug abuse, TMZ reports.
The Oscar winner just completed a 10-day stint in a detox center.
According to TMZ, Hoffman had been drug-free for 23 years, but relapsed more than a year ago.
The problem apparently started with prescription pills, then escalated into snorting heroin.
Hoffman — who won an Academy Award in 2006 for Capote — tells TMZ that the heroin use only lasted for about a week, and that he quickly realized he needed help.
The actor is reportedly back on the set of his new movie set in Europe.
