12-Year-Old Shot at Cleveland Park

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 12-year-old girl was shot in the chest at a Cleveland park after she was reportedly caught in the crossfire of two gunmen, according to police.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. at Walter A. Burks Park located in the Tacoma/Parkwood Avenue area on the city’s east side.

Dispatchers said the girl was taken by family to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Her guardians told police that two males had begun shooting at one another, and the girl was then hit in the chest.

She is in stable condition and was being prepped for surgery as of 9:30 p.m., according to police.

No arrests have yet been made.

The suspects are described as black males.
