NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A dog died after alerting its owners to a house fire early Saturday morning.

Fire officials say the family was sleeping in their Lorain Road home when their dog started barking, alerting them to the blaze. The family escaped without injury, but for some reason, the dog ran back inside.

It’s not known how many occupants were inside.

The house is a total loss, according to Lt. Ken Hehnen with the North Olmsted Fire Department. A cause of the fire has not been determined.

Officials tell Fox 8 News the residents are the owners of the Aut-O-Rama Twin Drive-In Theatre in North Ridgeville.
