Fire Truck Strikes Bicyclist in Canton

CANTON, Ohio — An adult bicyclist who failed to stop for a red light was struck by a Canton city fire truck, the Ohio Sate Highway Patrol said.

The man, whose identity was not known, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center for surgery.

The accident happened at the intersection of Fulton Road and 25th Street around 2:56 a.m. Wednesday.

The bicyclist was wearing dark clothing and was not carrying ID, according to the Ohio State Highway patrol.

The fire truck was returning to the station after responding to a crash and was not in emergency mode.

The man’s condition was not released and the crash remained under investigation.
