CLEVELAND -- Two people are dead after a car smashed into a house early Friday morning.

The Cuyahoga Medical Examiner's Office has identified them as 33-year-old Willa Guy, of Cleveland, and 49-year-old Michael Carter, of Wickliffe.

The crash happened just before midnight on East 61st Street near Wade Avenue.

Cleveland police said a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Guy, was traveling at a "very high rate of speed" when it struck a curb, went airborne and hit the second floor of a home.

Guy and Carter were pronounced dead at the scene. A dog in the car survived and was rescued.

Police say a homeowner was at home washing dishes in his kitchen at the time of the crash. He was not hurt.
