COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Investigators would like to speak with the driver of a red pickup truck who was traveling in front of a car involved in a fatal crash.

David Makaryk, 44, of Columbia Station, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Makaryk was headed southbound on SR 252 south of Redfern Road around 8:40 a.m. Saturday.

His car went off the left side of the road and hit two utility poles.

A witness told the Ohio State Highway Patrol he was driving very fast and was behind the red pickup just before the crash.

It was not known if alcohol and/or drugs were involved.

SR 252 was closed following the accident so crews could replace the poles.

It was expected to reopen around 4 p.m.
