NEW YORK CITY — The Cleveland Browns have drafted Leon McFadden with the 68th pick in the third round of the NFL Draft in New York City.

The Browns addressed another defensive need by selecting the cornerback from San Diego State.

McFadden is 5’10’, 193 pounds; he ran a 4.5 40-yard dash; has quick feet and was a three-time All Mountain West selection.

For his career, McFadden compiled eight interceptions, including three this past season.  He made 61 tackles and a forced fumble as a senior in 2012.

McFadden is expected to step in and start opposite Joe Haden. McFadden’s father, Leon, played professional baseball for nine years with the Houston Astros organization.

The Browns added some “bark” to their defense when they selected Barkevious Mingo with the sixth overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft.

Mingo most likely will shift into a defensive end for the Browns. The linebacker is 6’4”, 240 lbs; he ran a 4.53 40-yard dash.
