WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Icy conditions played a part in a police-involved accident that shut down the Miles Road exit ramp on I-480 westbound for several hours Thursday.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. when a North Randall police officer lost control of his cruiser and crashed into the guardrail. He was taken to South Pointe Hospital, where he was treated then released.

Icy conditions also closed the I-480 eastbound to I-271 northbound ramp. It remained closed for several hours while ODOT crews worked to salt the roads.

Both ramps have since reopened.
