AVON, Ohio-- An important milestone was reached for the dedicated volunteers who are building the St. Jude Dream Home.  On Tuesday, dozens of men and women wrote personal messages on the foundation before the permanent flooring is installed.

“It’s actually very great - special to see all these people pull together for the cause and everybody’s worked hard to where we are right now; it’s been great,” said Joe Mancuso from 84 Lumber, one of several companies that donated their services and supplies.

FOX 8 viewers made history when tickets sold out in six hours for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Dream Home giveaway.  “The collaboration from all the people in the home is beautiful and it’s just gorgeous, yes, it’s absolutely fantastic,” said Matt Vojtech from La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries.

Members of the FOX 8 family joined the volunteers working on the home in Avon’s Red Tail community by signing the floor.  “We’re very proud to be a part of it, St. Jude’s - kids with cancer - what else can you say? It’s wonderful to be a part of it,” said Ryan Pallinger from Shaw Industries, who was among those who wrote a message.

Some wrote notes like, “prayers for little patients and their parents”, “best wishes” and “believe in what you can do."

Chris Curcio from Litehouse Pools & Spas said his company was proud to be involved in the giveaway.  “Obviously there’s a lot of love going into this - this home, all the people who are involved. I’ve had the chance to meet, just incredible people,” said Curcio.

The prizes include the $400,000 house built by Buckingham Homes, a car from Nick Abraham Auto Mall, $10,000 to spend at Litehouse Pools & Spas and a host of other prizes; the drawing will be held on June 20.  The money raised benefits the pediatric treatment and research facility in Tennessee.

“What they do for children in our area and across the country, it’s just a great thing to be involved in,” said Mike Abraham.

Tickets to enter the drawing for the St. Jude Dream Home are sold out, but you can still win additional prizes when you tour the home for free beginning on May 4.

“I wrote a message, a personal message,” said Pete Restivo from Red Tail Golf Club.  “It's hard not to get teary watching some of these people.  For example, the mason who did the stone work here, Danny, he carved the St. Jude's logo in the top of the house and wrote a blessing on the back of that stone. That gives you some idea when I talk about these workers, the guys who did this, the trades; because this is their day; they did this, not us."

If you purchased a ticket for the drawing, St. Jude will be sending them in the mail by the end of next week.
