CLEVELAND — Garbage pick-up schedules across northeast Ohio continue to lag as replacement crews work to collect trash from customers.

Hundreds of employees at Republic Services are on a sympathy strike with Youngstown workers in a contract dispute. The Youngstown workers have been on strike for three weeks.

While trash collection is up to date in several cities, recycling is still behind in Eastlake, Willoughby Hills, Wickliffe, Macedonia, Sagamore Hills and Mentor-on-the-Lake. Residential, commercial and industrial customers in Parma, North Ridgeville, Bay Village, Strongsville, Berea, Fairview Park, Parma Heights, Vermilion, Avon Lake, Lorain and Brunswick are two to three days behind schedule, with pickup expected to continue through the weekend.

In the meantime, customers who have not had their trash or recycling picked up are asked to leave it on the curb until crews can remove it.
