BOSTON, Mass. — Police believe two suspects involved in the fatal shooting of an MIT police officer, and the wounding of a transit officer, are the same men who allegedly planted bombs that killed three in the Boston Marathon Monday.
One was shot dead early Friday, and the other was taken into custody late Friday night.
Police believe the two are brothers. The surviving brother has been identified as 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev. His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was shot and killed during gun battle with police. Both are from the Russian republic of Chechnya, CNN reports.

Boston Marathon bombings’ suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev is at Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Kelly Lawman said.
(CNN) — As of Friday evening, 58 people injured in this week’s Boston Marathon attacks remained hospitalized, according to a CNN tally. Three of those are in critical condition — one each at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center.

President Obama: “All in all this has been a tough week; but we have the courage and resilience to overcome these challenges and go forward.”
President Obama: “(The victims’) lives reflected all the diversity and beauty of our country and they were sharing a great American experience together.”

President Obama: “Why did young men who studied here as part of our country resort to such violence? How did they plan and carry out these attacks? The families of those killed so senselessly deserve answers.”

Authorities: the suspect did not have explosives on him at the time of capture.

U.S. Attorney: The suspect has been taken to a hospital.
Authorities: “The suspect is in serious condition.”
Authorities: “Over the course of the next hour, we exchanged gunfire with the suspect…who was still alive in the boat.”
Authorities: Man walked outside and saw blood…he opened a tarp and looked in and saw man covered in blood.

(CNN) — Law enforcement officials erupted in cheers in Watertown, Masssachusetts, on Friday night — moments before Boston police tweeted that the lone remaining suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings was in custody.

(CNN) — The FBI took two males and a female into custody for questioning Friday evening at New Bedford, Massachusetts, residence believe to have been connected to Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, New Bedford Police Lt. Robert Richard said.

(CNN) — There was a large police presence and a helicopter flying overhead Friday night in a part of Watertown, Massachusetts, where people told CNN’s Jason Carroll that they’d heard about 20 gunshots fired.
(CNN) — As many as a dozen people were being moved away from the scene of intense police activity in Watertown, Massachusetts, including a young girl being carried in a police officer’s arms, CNN’s David Fitzpatrick reported.

(CNN) — Interpol on Friday issued an “international security alert” related to this week’s Boston Marathon bombings, asking its 190 member countries to look for information tied to the case and, specifically, to “similarly configured bombs” as those used in the attack. The international law enforcement agency’s Orange Notice includes photographs of the bombs used on Monday and fingerprints of the two suspects.

Massachusetts state troopers will remain in Watertown, Massachusetts for at least the next three days.
Police: “People still need to be extremely careful and call the police department if they think they see him.”

(CNN) — The two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings carjacked a vehicle, pulled over to transfer materials into their new car, then threw one grenade and five pipe bombs at police chasing them, one FBI and one Department of Homeland Security official told CNN. Three of those explosives detonated, two did not, the officials said.

Taxi service in Boston has been restored, police said. The service had been suspended earlier today because of the Boston Marathon attack manhunt.
UPDATE: The possible Boston Marathon suspect vehicle found in Boston was unoccupied, and it is being processed for evidence by authorities, Boston police said. The vehicle is a gray 1999 Honda C-RV.

Multiple transportation options in an out of Boston are being shut down. This includes Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Boston-area buses, subways, commuter rails, and ferry routes.
