My Town: Annual Bowling for Rhinos Fundraiser

CLEVELAND — A night of bowling is helping save endangered black rhinos across the globe.

The Cleveland chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers is hosting its 23rd annual Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser at Cloverleaf Lanes on Saturday, May 18, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

Advance registration is $20 per person, and $20 minimum sponsorship for adults. Minimum sponsorship for children is $10. Registration at the door is $40.

Each registration includes three games, shoe rental and food. The event will also feature games, a silent auction, raffles and bowlers raising more than $100 will receive a gift.

All proceeds from Bowling for Rhinos will be given directly to black rhino sanctuaries in Kenya, Java and Sumatra. According to the Association, black rhinos are in danger of extinction due to habitat loss and extinction.

Since 1990, the American Association of Zookeepers Cleveland Chapter has raised more than $113,000 for the animals nationally.
