OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio-- A body was discovered in a pond in Olmsted Twp. Wednesday, when a neighbor noticed “clothing” floating in the water.

The man lives on McKenzie Road near the retention pond, but was too scared to investigate. Instead he notified police and called over a neighbor, Colin Garratt.

“To me it looked like a mannequin at first and shortly after that police showed up and said yeah, that’s a body,” said Garratt.

Olmsted Twp. Police, Fire, and a SERT dive team responded along with special agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Police Chief John Minek said, “We were able to determine it’s a male victim. The body is badly decomposed. We couldn’t even determine the age.”

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the processing of evidence, and the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office took custody of the deceased male.

It’s not known how the person died, but regardless neighbors were shaken by the discovery.

“None the less, that’s spooky,” said Garratt.

The body was found in a retention pond at a place that used to be a garden center.
