FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Portage County authorities have arrested a man believed to be responsible for an armed bank robbery.

Andrew G. Knechtle, 25, of Kent is charged with aggravated robbery. He’s being held in the Portage County Jail with no bond. He’ll appear in court on Wednesday.

On April 11, a male suspect entered the First Merit Bank in Franklin Township around 3:45 p.m. and approached one of the cashiers, according to Portage County Sheriff David Doak.  He presented a note saying he was armed with a gun. The suspect then fled from the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was harmed during the robbery.
