A new bill would allow some local school districts to ask for property tax levies to pay for additional safety and security.

Senate Bill 42 is designed to give schools the option for funding to bring on board resource officers and law enforcement officers assigned to schools.

The money could only be spent on safety and security and not for general fund expenditures, the Morning Journal reports.
