WESTLAKE, Ohio — Hundreds are preparing to show their support for a cure for childhood cancer with the annual Emily’s Rainbow Run.

The 5th Annual Emily’s Rainbow Run is a 4-mile race and 2-mile run/family walk now held memory of Emily Lewis. This year’s race will be held Sunday, April 14 at Westlake High School.

The 4-mile race will begin at 8 a.m., and the 2-mile race/family walk begins at 8:05 a.m. A kids’ run will begin at approximately 9:15 a.m.

Emily’s mother, Debbie Lewis, and Cathy Milowicki, the mother of Emily’s best friend, organized the first race in April 2009. Emily lost her battle to a rare type of childhood kidney cancer in August 2009.

All proceeds from the race will benefit pediatric cancer clinical research University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

Last year’s race drew more than 600 people, and this year organizers hope to raise at least $22,000 for cancer research.
