AVON, Ohio -- Crews are placing the finishing touches on the St. Jude Dream Home.
The drywall is up; the walls are painted; and today, crews were hard at work putting in the trim, tile, and cabinets. Steve Pasternak is working on the tile in the home, and so far he's impressed with what the designers have chosen.
"We're doing the tub; we are going to do a back-splash, kind of a little fancy thing back here that the decorator designed, and that will tie in with the shower," said Pasternak of Showtime Interiors.
Many of the workers say they are excited to be part of the St. Jude Dream Home.
"The project has been going wonderful. Everyone has been very excited to be working here," said Misho of Top Grain Interiors. "It's a great privilege to be part of this project. A lot of us would like to be able to heal those children; but this is the part we can do and this is the part we can do good."
Bob Butress is a cancer survivor himself. He was also hard at work today installing the cabinets in the kitchen and the laundry room.
"It's going well; it's a really nice house," said Butress. "I really appreciate the ministry for St. Jude hospitals, being a cancer survivor, and seeing kids who really are suffering. It really touches me to see this much going on for those kids."
One of the final touches on the Dream Home is the St. Jude logo, neatly fitted into the stonework on the front of the home. It's a fitting reminder to whomever the lucky winner is: this house isn't just beautiful, it's a labor of love.
Open houses begin on May 4. If you attend an open house, you are entered into a drawing for $10,000 in La-Z-Boy furniture.
